Why Xylitol?

How we get cavities
The natural pits and crevices in teeth are ideal locations for food and bacteria to become lodged and adhere to tooth enamel. If allowed to remain in contact with the teeth, dental plaque begins to form.
Plaque traps harmful bacteria against teeth and allows the bacteria to remain undisturbed.
When sugar and bacteria come together, an acid production process begins. The resulting acid starts to dissolve tooth enamel in as little as twenty minutes.
Without treatment, the decay will progress through the tooth enamel, into the dentin and continue to the pulp of the tooth where the nerves are located.
What tests have shown
Worldwide clinical studies have indicated that Xylitol is effective at reducing the incidents of dental caries (tooth decay) by up to 80%.
In fact, Dr Catherine Hayes, DMD, from the Harvard School of dental medicine, after reviewing the current published evidence, concluded, “Since the evidence suggests a strong caries protective effect of Xylitol. It would be unethical to deprive subjects of its potential benefits.”
It’s that simple
In the presence of Xylitol, bacteria cannot stick to teeth in this inhospitable oral environment. As a result plaque build-up is substantially reduced and with this bacteria cannot adhere to the enamel.
